Dr. Omowumi Femi-Akinlosotu

Dr. Omowumi Femi-Akinlosotu is a Reader in the Department of Anatomy and Sub-Dean in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. A clinician-scientist by training, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), an MSc in Anatomy, and a PhD in Neurobiology. Her research bridges basic and applied neuroanatomy with translational relevance, focusing on neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative processes, craniofacial and dental anatomy, and forensic anatomy. She has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles and contributed book chapters on neuroscience and tertiary education. Dr. Femi-Akinlosotu is widely recognized for excellence in teaching and mentorship. She is a multiple-time recipient of the “Best Female Lecturer” award from pre-clinical students at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. Her scholarship has attracted local and international grants supporting her global research engagements. She is deeply engaged in professional service and advocacy. She is a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, Nigerian Dental Association, Anatomical Society of Nigeria, Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN), International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN), Society for Neuroscience (SfN), and Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA). She is the Immediate Past President of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Branch. Beyond academia, she is committed to nurturing youths from adolescence through young adulthood.
